Modern Birth Control Methods

Condoms – made of a latex that covers the man penis during sexual intercourse to avoid pregnancy or transmitted disease (STD) for example glanorrhea, syphilis, and AIDS. (AKA Rubbers)
Also there is females condoms, I will give you information about female condoms after male condoms.

Male Condoms

Proper use involves the following:

- Never open condom wrapper with sharp nails
- Put condom on penis immediately when an erection (when he is hard, boner) especially before any contact with the vagina or anus or mouth.
- Leave some room at the tip of the condom to hold the semen. Pinch when applying to avoid an air bubble which can cause it to burst later.
- Water- based sexual lubricant may be used with condoms, but oil-bases lubricant should never be used since they weaken the latex and may cause it to tear or develop holes. If the vagina gets dry so don’t use Vaseline or certain lotions, lubricant should be used to reduce the abrasion on the condom.
- For anal sex use condoms designed for it . They are bigger and thicker and less likely to tear.
- Never use condoms after the date given on the package.
- The penis should be taken out after the vagina ejaculated.
- Wash hand and penis before further contact with your partner.
- Condoms are single use only. Never reuse condoms.
- If you feel the condom is too small or too big. You should consider special size or the female condom.
- Try on a condom when your alone, where there is a light so you see what you are doing before using condoms during sex for the first time. Also don not put more than one condom at the time because your increasing the chances of the condom ripping.

Verify the Expiration date on the condom wrapper.
1. Condom has printed expiration date on the pack.
2. Open the foil wrapper alone one side. Pay attention and take sure not to damange the condom with sharp objects.
3. Press firmly together the tip condom to expel dir that maybe be trapped inside the condom. Air packets may cause condom to burst.
4. Put the still-roll-up condom and tip of the penis. Make sure it isn’t loose or coming off.

Female Condoms

They are larger than male condoms and is located inside the vagina. It contains an inner ring, which keeps the condoms in place inside the vagina.

Diaphragm – a small rubber tube filled with a spermicidal (sperm killing) cream and placed in the vagina, to the wall of the cervix (this is the place where the uterus joins with the top end of the vagina. It is normally blocked by mucosal plug, which helps to prevent infection.) The opening uterus prevents sperm from entering.

Cervical Cap- is a device that is inserted into the Virginia. It has a thimble shape and fits snugly over the cervix. They come in different sizes and styles they are made of latex or medical silicone.

Contraceptive sponge- a spermicide with a barrier contraceptive it offers an immediate and continuous presence of the spermicide,  nonxynol-9 throughout 24 hr. period, allowing for as many intercourse desired with in the period without need for additional spermicide. The effective of the sponge is 89% to 90%, if you use incorrectly or while you are having sex the chances of you not getting pregnant is 84% and 87%. This does not protect you from HIV/AIDS, but it may provide some protective from other STDs. Do not use while you are in your period.
Side affects, allergies or irritation from the spermicide(not common).

traveling up to the cervix. They come in different form and styles. Foam, which is squirted into the Vagina from an can. Spermicides are not very effective against pregnancy, but if your partner uses a condom, it’s more safe for you and your partner. It can’t protect you from STD & HIV, though.

Nuva Ring/Vaginal Ring-is a flexible ring that is inserted into the vagina for 3 weeks. Remove for one week and in the week you will get your period, then replaced with a new ring. It releases estrogen and progesterone into your body.

The Intrauterine Device (IUD)- its is a t-shaped inserted onto the uterus, by a health care professional. There are 2 types of IUDs. Copper remains in place for 10yrs. Progesterone (natural Female Sex Hormones) replaced over 1 year. It prevents pregnancy by fertilizing into the egg. Although not entirely know it is believed that IUDs affect the sperm and egg move and/ or affect the lining of the uterus to prevent the sperm going to the egg. It is not recommended for teenagers because of increased risks of serious infection, which can cause sterility. Doesn’t protect against STI, HIV, and STD.

Birth Control Implant (Implanon) - Implanon is a thin, flexible plastic implant about the size of a cardboard matchstick. It is inserted under the skin of the upper arm. It protects against pregnancy for up to three years. Like several other methods of birth control, such as the birth control shot, Implanon releases a hormone — progestin. Hormones are chemicals made in our bodies. They control how different parts of our bodies work. The progestin in Implanon works by keeping a woman's ovaries from releasing eggs — ovulation. Pregnancy cannot happen if there is no egg to join with sperm. The hormone in the implant also prevents pregnancy by thickening a woman's cervical mucus. The mucus blocks sperm and keeps it from joining with an egg. The hormone also thins the lining of the uterus. In theory, this could prevent pregnancy by keeping a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus.

Here are some ways in which you can say no to sex.

1. Be serious, take your time and tell him/her “No, I don’t want to have sex”.
2. If he/she ask you while you and your partner are either fooling around/kissing, stop what you are doing and with a serious voice, face expression tell him/her again “No, I don’t want to have sex”.
3. If she/he questions, stay true about yourself and share your feeling about it.
4. Explain to him/her why you aren’t ready. List all your reasons.
5. If you had sex before and you aren’t ready to have sex with your new partner, don’t let him/her brainwash you by either telling you “you have done it before why don’t you want to have sex with me know”. If you have done it before it doesn’t mean you have to do it anytime you have been asked.
6. Be honest to the person how you feel about them. For example, if you don’t feel close to that person yet, tell them so. If you really love that person but aren’t interested in sex tell them so.
7. If the person keeps on nagging about you having sex you can ay NO again. You may have to say no more than once to let that person know how serious you are.
8. If the person tries to curse you out to have sex. Yell at that person and tell them No, leave & talk about it the next day.
