The Most Common STD’s And How To Prevent Them
STD’s... we’ve all heard of them, but how much do we really know? In today’s blog we will be discussing the most common STD’s, and the measures that can be taken beforehand to prevent them.
The transmission of STD’s can occur in various ways. They are spread through contact of contaminated body fluids such as vaginal fluids, blood, spit and semen. Because of this, the most common ways to contract an STD are through vaginal or anal penetration and kissing, They can also spread if contaminated bodily fluids penetrate through the epidermis, and a few can spread with skin to skin contact (herpes, hpv)
1. Chlamydia. This sexually transmitted disease is actually a bacterial infection. It is extremely prevalent. Fortunately it is curable with a course of antibiotics. 2. Herpes. There are 2 types of this virus, herpes type 1 (oral) and herpes type (genital) 2. This STD is a virus that results in sores in the mouth and in the genitalia. 3. Gonorrhea. This STD is easily curable if the correct medications are administered, but if left untreated can cause infertility and other complications. 4. HPV (human papillomavirus infection). This infection generally causes clusters of warts on the epidermis. More than 100 variations of HPV prevail, and certain types have the potential to cause cervical cancer. Many people that are infected with one of these STD’s will not show symptoms, but it is important to understand that anybody that is having sexual contact is susceptible to contract an STD especially people that have multiple sexual partners. Some precautionary choices we can make in order to diminish the chances of contacting an STD are: 1. Practice abstinence 2. Always use a condom when engaging in
sexual activity.
3. Get tested regularly (You and your partners) 4. Do not engage in sexual activities if you notice warts or sores around a persons mouth or genitalia. 5. Be cautious when using drugs or alcohol, for obvious reasons. If you are under the influence, you are incapacitated and unable to make correct choices when having sex. 6. Have fewer sexual partners 7. Do not share undergarments or underwear See a doctor if you believe that you are experiencing any STD synonyms , so that you can be treated as soon as possible.
