Kale is a loose leafed edible plant which belongs to the Brassica family, which also includes vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, collard greens, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower The leaves of kale usually range from green to dark green and even in some cases contain a purple hue.

The flavor of raw kale is often prominent, deep, and earthy, and can come with a bitter aftertaste however it continues to remain a staple in healthy cooking and recipes because of it's versatility and incredible health benefits.

Kale tastes amazing cooked in a variety of ways and if cooked properly will be rid of it's infamous bitterness. Here are some of the most popular ways this dish is prepared : crisped and seasoned for delicious crispy kale chips, tossed in a delicious superfood salad with your choice of toppings, mixed into a smoothie, and my personal favorite, steamed and seasoned, Now that we have covered how you can enjoy kale we can cover it's amazing health benefits.

Health benefits: 1. Kale is very good for the digestive system, because it's so fibrous and leafy it is a great aid for bowel health. 2. Kale is very nutrient-dense and high in various vitamins including: Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin K and calcium, studies show that consumption of these vitamins aids in bone health, can prevent cancers, helps keep your vision healthy, and aids in slowing down the aging process of your skin. 3. Kale contains powerful antioxidants including beta-carotene and quercetin which help counteract free radical damage. 4. Kale can be a big help in lowering cholesterol thus reducing the risk of heart disease.

These are a few of the benefits of kale among many more, and after reading this I highly recommend anyone and everyone to include kale into their diets along with a variety of other fresh fruits and vegetables. Just as we have the ability to train our brain, we also have the ability to train our taste buds into thoroughly enjoying healthy, antioxidant packed, and nutrient-dense foods. Healthy eating is always the best choice in the long run to maintain a fully-functioning body.
