Vaping Intelligence Terminated

Did you know there are apps for vaping? Well, not anymore. Friday the 15th Apple put a ban on vaping related apps, which resulted in a total of 181 apps removed from the store. These apps are mainly to buying vape pens, changing the setting regulations such as the color or temperature of the pen, as well as other games. Sounds a little off to have applications for a smoking tool and other paraphernalia, especially on an app store. Believe it or not, people actually use these applications for the reasons previously stated, but why did Apple implement this ban in the first place?

First, it turns out there have been 42 deaths from vaping diseases as well as over 2,000 people sickened. Ina Fried and Mike Allen from Axios state, “Most of those people had been using cartridges containing THC, though some exclusively used nicotine cartridges.” Not a lot of people actually acknowledge the fact that vaping isn’t healthier than smoking; it is just as unhealthy as that of a normal cigarette. People prefer vaping over cigarettes thinking it’s better regarding both healthiness as well as odor, yet people still get sick from these activities. In addition, Apple never actually approved of these vaping apps before. However, the company still updated their guidelines regarding their app store. “We’ve updated our App Store Review Guidelines to reflect that apps encouraging or facilitating the use of these products are not permitted,” Apple states, “As of [Friday], these apps are no longer available to download.” Even though people can’t download the apps, people who already have them downloaded can still used them, the company stated. Actually, Apple has been trying to get rid of vaping applications since June of this year by stopping new applications that were related to vaping get into the app store. Now, they are trying their best to evaluate the apps and determine whether or not is a health risk to users.
