Did Eminem Go Too Far?

On January 17 Eminem released a surprise album to the people including the tongue twisting Godzilla track and an homage to Alfred Hitchcock. However, Eminem being Eminem has spit some controversial lyrics in his recent tracks which have stirred up the media.

Throughout the years, Eminem has written songs from the perspective of some serial killer, like Charles Manson, and releasing more songs that are like that are no surprise. But in his song Unaccommodating sings from the perspective of the of the bomb terrorist from the Ariana Grande 2017 concert in Manchester. In this song he expresses his feelings towards critics, and how he will never change no matter how mad the public gets. He expresses this in the lines: “Please dawg, I need y'all to keep talking shit cause I feed off of it / I am the complete opposite of these retards who speak these weak bars, I’ma leave carnage...” So it's apparent that Eminem will not bow down to the critics who talk smack about him. On the contrary, them talking bad about him will only add more fuel to the fire. Later come the line that caused controversy: “But I’m contemplating yelling ‘Bombs away’ on the game / Like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting...” And if that wouldn’t infuriate the public enough, add on to that the chorus: “They call me Saddam Hussein, Ayatollah Khomeini / Where’s Osama been? I been laden lately / Look at how I’m behaving, they want me gone away / They wanna JonBenet me (Fuck you) I’m unaccommodating…” Many people could come to the conclusion that he’s advocating for free speech, but others think that it’s unnecessary to use that use of wording. Although he seems to be joking about the bombing, he did raise around 2 million dollars at the time to help all those affected by the incident in Manchester. And finally there’s the fans who obviously know that he’s just saying that just to make people mad.

But what do you think? Did Eminem go too far this time? He’s said worse things in his previous songs and got away with it, so this time it wouldn’t make a difference what the public thinks, he’ll just continue being Slim Shady.
