Beginning 2020 with a BANG

As 2019 came to an end, The Internet went into a frenzy as the new year kicked off with 2020. As the New Year's Begin, a piece of alarming news broke the Internet by storm at night. On January 2nd of 2020, it seems WW3 was trending on twitter due to Quasem Soleimani's death Involving the U.S. Quasem Soleimani died at Baghdad airport by a U.S. Strike Approved By Donald Trump. Two missiles fired from an MQ9 Reaper drone struck Soleimani after disembarking an aircraft at Baghdad airport. The Pentagon justified the assassination, saying General Soleimani was "actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region."The drone strike came days after protesters attacked the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, clashing with U.S. forces at the scene. The Pentagon said Soleimani approved the attacks on the embassy. Minutes before the statement, President Trump tweeted a U.S. flag without comment. This event has made headlines and trending on twitter as the rise of tension in the U.S. and Iran have escalated dramatically. As the tension rose, many twitter users went into the platform and shared their thoughts and opinions about the issue

And many across the platform showed humor to cope with the sudden event that happened that night.

Needless to say, everyone had a lot of thoughts and opinions about the news. Many users were worried about getting drafted into the war and making memes about the situation. Some users were already disappointed about the New Year as in the very beginning of the year as the topic of world war 3 was circulating around social media. As dreadful as this event may sound we can only hope that we don’t have another war. There is too much bloodshed into the battlefield. We musnt shed more blood in order to provoke fear into people. It destroys homes and a person's psyche if we do. A battlefield is a continuous battle when will it end? Although World War 3 was trending on Twitter, the majority of people in social media were having comic relief and it is nice that people find this event humorous.
