Mom's Spaghetti

This may have been late news, but some people might have gotten the recent announcement that Eminem opened his own restaurant in Detroit. And out of all dishes to serve or offer, Spaghetti is the main dish served. That’s right! But why Spaghetti?

In case you’ve been living under a rock, one of Eminem’s most famous songs, “Lose Yourself,” included a particular line that caught many people’s attention. In the song, Eminem begins the rap with the verse: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti….” Eminem talks about a rapper about to do his rap but is so nervous he vomited on himself in this rap. It happened to be the Spaghetti the rapper’s mom made him (I guess). That verse became so famous some people even made it a meme. I think Eminem caught up to the joke and decided to play along and make it a reality.

On September 29th, Eminem announced the new restaurant where the primary food served is Spaghetti. In honour of his most known and favourite phrase, Eminem named the restaurant “Mom’s Spaghetti.” Many people spotted Eminem working the walk-up window handing out cartons of Spaghetti to customers. Many people also took selfies with him when they got the chance.

What exactly do they serve there? Just Spaghetti? Well, yeah, but with options! You can just have the Spaghetti or Spaghetti with meatballs for an extra couple of bucks. There are also vegan meatballs and even a spaghetti sandwich!

Inside the restaurant, there was also a tiny shop called “The Trailer” where there were many products for sale. This shop included vinyl records, hoodies, cassette tapes, and some limited-edition prints. There is also a pair of custom Eminem Air Jordans IV sneakers, which are (unfortunately) not for sale.

Indeed, this is a strange direction for Eminem to go regarding his career. Regardless, this was probably Eminem’s peculiar way of saying thank you to his fans as this whole “mom’s spaghetti” thing became incredibly famous.
