Parents of ‘Dune’ actor Alicia Witt found dead in their home

Alicia Witt, known for her roles on "The Walking Dead" and "Dune," is grieving her mother and father's sudden and mysterious death. On Monday, Robert Witt, 87 years old, and Diane Witt, 75 years old, were found deceased by a relative at their home in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Witt, who had not heard from her parents in days, asked a cousin to check up on them.

"Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable," Witt, 46, told Worcester's Telegram & Gazette in a statement. "I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss."

The director of media relations for the Worcester Police Department, Kathleen Daly-Shea, told TODAY Parents that "there were no signs of foul play" and that the case remains under investigation.

Robert Witt, a retired science teacher. A former reading specialist, Diane Witt, made the Guinness World Records in the 1980s for her hair that measured more than 10 feet.

"To my amazing dad, the wise and hilarious and always curious one, and the greatest teacher, and the OG Witty," she wrote. "Here we are before watching the @patriots win the super bowl in 2015 (on TV, that year). I am deeply blessed in the dad department, and I know that every single day."

Alicia Roanne Witt is an American actress, singer, and pianist. Born on August 21, 1975, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Witt was homeschooled through grade 12. She started her acting debut at age 7 in David Lynch's "Dune" and Twin Peaks (1990). Witt had a role as a troubled teenager in Fun (1994), played a role as a music student in Mr. Holland's Opus (1995), and as a haunted college student in the horror film Urban Legend (1998). She appeared in Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky (2001), Last Holiday (2006), Two Weeks' Notice (2002), and the thriller 88 Minutes (2007). Witt has made television appearances in The Walking Dead, Nashville, Two and a Half Men, The Sopranos, Friday Night Lights, Cybill, Justified, Twin Peaks: The Return, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Mentalist, and Orange Is the New Black.

All those accomplishments in acting she is also considered as a musical prodigy, she is a successful singer, pianist and songwriter. The start of 2013, Witt has starred in 8 annual Hallmark Christmas movies. On the 2020's Christmas Tree Lane, Witt served as a story writer, executive producer and wrote 2 original songs that her character performed on-screen.
