The Eternals: What To Know Before Watching It
Before reading this blog, I have not seen the movie, but I am a comic book reader and I like watching movies. I thought that if I write this blog, it would be great to help people who don’t know the differences between the movie and comic book. Of course there are going to be things that I don’t know about but that’s just life and it’s okay to be wrong. Either way, I am going to watch the movie and see how it goes.
From the Marvel movie production of Eternals to the comic verse, both are trying to please their audience.
The first comicbook of Eternals was published in 1976, and to this day it’s not as diverse as what the movie is. In both the movie and comic In the film, the Eternals, are to protect Earth from their counter parts, the Deviants.
In the comic books, ach story lines are pretty good, but I won’t go into too much detail since it is very confusing for non-comic book readers. The Eternals are inspired by the Greek mythology and had multiple storylines.
In the movie, the only thing that I want to praise is the actress who plays Makkari, Lauren Ridloff. She was a former teacher, but decided to leave after having two kids, and needed to take care of them. She is an american actress and has been in the film industry for a while. Besides this movie, she has been in the hit show The Walking Dead. But her main breakthrough was in 2018, she played in the Broadway play Children of a Lesser God, as a lead role. Which she was nominated several awards, including a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play.
The cool part about Lauren Ridloff’s role, is that Makkari is original a guy, but the movie wanted to change a lot of things that makes the Eternals diverse. I think it was a great decision to make the character deaf, since a lot of deaf people or even disabilities are not represented that much or at all. She had a lot of struggles but in the end, the team communicated what they need help with and they tackle the problems together. From the cast, to the crew, a lot of people appreciated having Lauren Ridloff working in the film.
It just shows that no matter what happens, you can still make it big. It may take a while, or luck is or isn’t on your side, but you can still do it.
